BUILDING AUTOMATION INSTALL TECHNICIAN (OTTAWA, ON)
Primary Role:
The main function of this position is to commission Honeywell HVAC, Fire and Security Systems. These control systems are designed and engineered by Honeywell system designers/engineers, installed by electrical sub-contractors and then commissioned by Honeywell Field Technicians in commercial and institutional buildings (e.g. office buildings, schools, universities, airports, hospitals, etc.)
The Install Technical Specialist will work towards continuous improvement of commissioning practices, specifically reducing commissioning hours per device and/or hours per system using HOS techniques.
Responsibilities:
Commissioning and programming controls systems
Coordination with other trades and customer/GC/MC as well as Honeywell engineering
Customer management and sales support activities
Health, safety and statutory compliance
Administrative responsibilities
Basic Qualifications:
Post Secondary degree or diploma related to Mechanical Systems, Mechanical Technology, Building Automations Systems (BAS), and/or Mechanical Engineering. A background in electrical and / or computer technology would also be considered.
2 years experience working as a mechanical technologist/technician, DDC Controls support specialist or programmer, electronic systems technologist /or related building systems technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of HVAC control systems, fire and security systems, mechanical system operation and building facilities. Honeywell Installed Systems Product knowledge would be a benefit.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagrams.
Diagnostics, troubleshooting and/or programming skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done.
Communication skills sufficient to deal with co-workers, customers and contractors.
Knowledge of HVAC, fire and security systems, mechanical system operation and building systems and networks.
Honeywell Installed Systems Product knowledge would be a benefit.
Analytical, diagnostic, troubleshooting and/or programming skills a must.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done.
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and contractors.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Ability to work independently.
A positive attitude and a strong desire to learn.
Bilingual in English and French is preferred.
