Senior Network Administrator ( Saskatoon )

Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for administrating the network infrastructure . The successful candidate is expected to be a highly self motivated individual with hands on experience on Microsoft Networking, IP routing (Cisco & Fortinet based products), LAN/WAN architecture, security (Intrusion Detection & Prevention).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make the CRS network (VOIP, LAN & WAN, Firewall) capacity meets existing and future requirements
  • Experience implementing large scale VoIP programs. Involved with VoIP strategy, program planning, and implementation MUST HAVE – CISCO
  • Manage and ensure optimal operations of data and VOIP network equipment, including routers, switches, load balancers, VOIP gateways, and other related devices
  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures for network resource administration and appropriate use
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports to the management.
  • Establish best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting network hardware, software, and peripheral devices
  • Develop, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all new and existing network/ VOIP/security hardware, software, and communication links
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, upgrades, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
  • Assess and approve all change requests relating to network upgrades (VOIP, LAN & WAN, and Firewall) and implementations
  • Establish and maintain regular communications with the management regarding pertinent network activities
  • Provide periodic on-call support during non-business hours
  • Other network-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Diploma or degree majoring in Computer Science. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree.
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in IT.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in a Retail Systems environment.
  • Cisco certification (CCNA/CCNP certification and a minimum of 8 years hands-on experience)

Additional Skills:

6 years experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, (Private) WANs, VPNs, Firewall, DMZ, etc.

Exceptional technical knowledge of network and perimeter security systems

Hands-on experience configuring/troubleshooting network and security hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.

Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration Protocols

Extensive experience in enterprise network and security architecture design and documentation

Experience in developing and supporting IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans

Working technical knowledge of Fortinet and Cisco firewall solutions, Routers, and Layer 2 and 3 switches

High level of technical skills in supporting Cisco Unified Communications applications

Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills

Ability to conduct research on emerging technologies, standards, and products as required
