Assistant Controller Job in Mississauga, Ontario Canada

Description:

Our client is a vibrant, employee-focused construction company in the midst of significant growth. In order to allow the Controller to focus on more strategic projects, they have created the role of Assistant Controller to handle more of the day to day operations of the company and supervise the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly, quarterly and financial statements including all relevant variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and management reports. Supervise a team of 8-10 and ensure that the month-end reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Responsible for improving the existing policies and procedures, and ensuring the internal control environment is working appropriately. Lead ad hoc projects assigned by management and represent Finance on various committees as needed.

Experience:

A Canadian accounting designation is required i.e. CA, CMA, or CGA. A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a construction environment. Previous experience supervising an accounting team in an growing environment.
