Business Analyst

(3 month contract, Toronto, Ontario)

A leader in the finance industry is currently seeking a business side Business Analyst who understands programming, accuracy testing i.e. write scripts or codes (ACL, SAS, SQL, Visual Basics, Unix) and who can look for patterns in data. The role of this Business Analyst position is to provide support to internal auditors through design of computerized tests, extraction/gathering of data, and analysis of data to provide meaningful and value-added insights that form part of audit evidence. Additional responsibilities of the position include the following:

- Provide analytics and CAATTs (Computer-Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques) support to Investment Banking Audit. This involves designing automated testing to fulfill audit objectives, providing information through data extracts from financial and other source systems and analysis of the extracted data. The result of the work will help auditors draw conclusions on various audit objectives.
- Design metrics and tests through automation techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Investment Banking Audits.
- Consistently seek to improve techniques and methodologies to ensure efficient and effective audit results.
- Participate in special projects as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Candidates must want to work with Data, data mining, data analysis, reading through process documents from end to end.
- Experience in Capital Markets, Retail banking, Insurance is an ASSET
- Tact in communicating with challenging clients
- Minimum 2 years related experience.
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access VBA, complete working knowledge ACL or other analysis tools such as SAS, PERL, Unix shell scripting, SQL or similar applications.
- Knowledge of IT processes with an understanding of data flows from source systems to downstream systems. Ability to read and understand mapping documents for data transformations applied mapping data from one system to another.
- Sound understanding of market risk and VAR as applied to capital markets products.
- Ability to identify key objectives and associated risks related to the businesses processes.
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the management of risk in the client’s environment and provide a consultative role to enhance the management of risk.
- Professional designation in internal audit, accounting or risk management would be an asset.
- Education: BA/BSc/MSc
