JOB OVERVIEW:
Our client, located in downtown Toronto, Ontario is a financial organization who has a permanent position available for an Online Java Applications Developer. The client is currently looking for a dynamic Java Application Developer for the development and maintenance of a strategic client web application. The individual in this position will participate in the design and all aspects in the development of this strategic application. The position will be based in our global development center in Toronto and may require some international travel to other locations.
Responsibilities:
-Involvement in the entire software development life cycle
-Development and maintenance of a Java EE application following development best practices and current technologies
-Database design and development
-Creation and presentation of design and support documentation
-Technical contribution to the wider Application Development group and readiness for further project portfolio contributions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-5 years minimum experience working as a Java developer demonstrating good fundamental understand of the core language and concepts
-4 years minimum programming experience with Java EE
- 2 years minimum experience with an ORM framework, preferably hibernate.
-2 years minimum experience with client side Javascript frameworks such as JQuery or EXTJS.
-4 years minimum experience in database development, demonstrating strong SQL skills
-Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or similar discipline, or the equivalent education
-Must have excellent communication skills and must be able to present diagnostic, troubleshooting steps and conclusions to a varied audience
-Must be able to work with minimal supervision and drive results
-Demonstrated expertise in supporting large-scale projects.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment
The following are considered an asset:
-Financial systems industry domain experience
-Experience with open source frameworks including Struts2 and Spring
