Accounting Supervisor (one year contract)
Salary up to $85, 000!!!
Our client, one of the worlds largest educational publishers is looking for an Accounting Supervisor. This is a unique role, where you will not only be responsible for the functions of General Ledger, month closing, financial reporting and analysis, but also supervise the daily accounts payable operations and ensure all payments are issued accurately and efficiently. If you have strong analytic skills, and enjoy managing multiple concurrent tasks, this is the job for you!
Responsibilities
Accounting
Supervision of the Junior Accountant
Ensure monthly closing, financial reporting and fixed assets reporting are completed timely and accurately
Supervision of the Junior Accountant
Month-end Closing
Responsible for journal entries and month-end closing
Responsible for ISE Development Fee
Responsible for reviewing Departmental Expenses and investigating unusual fluctuations
Ensure retained earnings is reconciled and investigate material variances (if any)
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Responsible for Financial Statements package
Responsible for Balance Sheet Fluctuation analysis
Responsible for reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts
Responsible for reports to Statistics Canada as required
Fixed Asset Accounting (Plate and Capital Assets)
Ensure new spending for capital assets properly approved and within the budget
Maintain new spending data base for capital assets and generate reports, analysis and reconciliation for plate and capital assets monthly
Responsible for GST, PST and QST returns and remittances monthly
Assist in annual external audit
Responsible for preparing insurance questionnaires
Ad hoc projects and financial analysis as requested
Account Payables
Supervise and coach A/P Specialists with problem solving and making decisions in the day to day operations (both technical and functional)
Provide guidance to ensure vendor invoices and payments are processedaccurately
Ensure all month end processes are completed within the given deadlines including journal entries for accruals and adjustments, reconciliation of major suppliers accounts and G/L account reconciliations.
Ensure all expense reports are processed and paid timely and accurately
Oversee the wire payments and direct deposits
Verify, collect and reconcile inventory stock return invoices
Respond to and resolve inquiries from internal employees and external parties
Responsible for T4A tax filing annually
Miscellaneous requests / ad hoc projects as requested
Qualifications
University Degree in a related field
Enrolled in CGA/CMA program final level
Minimum five (5) years related working experience with minimum 2 years supervisory experience
Advancedin Excel and proficient with MicrosoftWord
Experience in Accounts Payableswould be a strongasset
Strong analytical skills, Flexibility in responding to change, Time Management
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
Ability to work in a team environment as well as working independently
