MANDATE : The Small Business Banker (SBB) is accountable to meet the commercial and the personal financial needs of the small business customer. The small business customer is defined as a customer representing a company owned by a single entity or one owner with up to $5MM in annual sales and/or up to $250M in lending whose commercial needs are straightforward and can be met with standardized pricing. The SBB’s primary accountability is to deepen BMO’s small business customer relationships, increasing commerical and personal share of wallet and market share in the small business customer base through sales and service relationship development. The Small Business Banker is a trusted advisor for both the business and personal finanicial needs for our small business customers. The role will focus on account management, retention and expansion of the small business customers business and personal banking relationship. In addition, this role will determine growth opportunities and/or risks to remain on target to meet sales, service, loyalty and operational effectiveness objectives/targets.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge : Post Secondary education plus 1 – 3 years financial service experience. Credit Qualified with Personal Limits Small Business Basics (SBB) Canadian Securities Course and RISR registered Knowledge of the Lending Process (Personal and Small Business) Understanding of all operational processes and supporting applications and policies Understanding of Personal and Small Business Products and Loan documentation (Expert) Working knowledge of financial statement/ratio analysis Working knowledge of cash management products and their applicability to small business Understanding of Small Business segment Preferred: Certificate of Achievement – Financial Counseling or equivalent Skills: Analytical Thinking (Working) Business Acumen (Working) Environmental Understanding (Working) Negotiation (In-depth) Relationship Management (Working) Risk Management (Working) Strategic Business Planning (Basic) Mandarin language skills would be an asset.
