Network Management (OSS)

Contract: 6 months with a strong chance of renewal

A Services Professional Experienced:

-Delivers a variety of technical services in live customer networks and creates customized software packages for specific customers.

-Identifies and trouble shoots faults by applying standard resolving processes.

-May develop and design methods, tools and scripts within a defined framework in line with customer requirements, and/or carry out site design and layout.

-Independently carries out the work duties as described in the accountabilities below subject to managerial follow up and review of results.

-Mainly interacts with other groups within the Service Delivery organization, and with customers on issues related to site engineering, troubleshooting of network problems, and in training sessions.

-Often plays a role as project member during delivery phase of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Deliver services within site engineering, integration and/or configuration and/or support of products and networks in accordance with a customer service contract.

-Identify faults and troubleshoot these, according to a set of defined alternatives, and apply standard resolving processes in the network.

-Perform complex updates/upgrades of live networks

-Conduct customized integration of products/networks, including 3rd party products

-Plan, design and optimize the network based on the customers? requirements on the technical functionality.

-Develop and design methods, tools and scripts within a defined framework and in accordance to customer requirements.

-Participate in on-call support rotations within the technical teams

-Expected to travel internationally and sometimes on short notice with variable durations (60-200 days per year).

-Play significant role in improvement initiatives

-Expected to mentor others

-May be expected to take on senior roles such as Team Leader, Recovery Leader, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

-Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent

-Pertinent Experience ? four to eight years of relevant experience in a Software or Telecommunications environment.

COMPETENCE:

-Excellent customer service skills

-Highly developed customer/business orientation

-Experience on OSS RC maintenance, administration and Network Element integration.

-OSS Upgrade experience

-Review vendor technical documents and new provide proposals on OSS

-Good knowledge with NetBackup and BMR

-Good knowledge with ENIQ

-Excellent knowledge in shell programming

-Strong technical knowledge of:

o SUN Solaris 8, 9 & 10;

o Oracle,

o Sun FIRE platforms,

o Unix,

o Sybase SQL server,

o Versant DB

o TCP/IP, SNMP, LDAP protocols

o OSS applications
