Business System SCOM Specialist Job in Toronto, Ontario Canada

Our team embraces challenges and is engaged in working together to contribute to our business objectives.This position reports to the Manager, Business Systems Infrastructure.The role of the Business System SCOM Specialist is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications, including financial systems. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and following and developing Bill 198 compliant processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.RESPONSIBILITIESManage and administrate all operating systems and their corresponding or associated softwareAssist in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applicationsConduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendationsDesign and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systemsCollaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processesCreate and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping and processesCheck help desk database for entries on server and server resource issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriateFollow Bill 198 compliant change management processes and complete all related Bill 198 documentationAssess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if requiredConduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development effortsAdminister and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rightsQUALIFICATIONSSystem Center Operations Management 2007 experienceCollege diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or seven years equivalent work experienceWorking knowledge of networking concepts, particularly in a troubleshooting capacityWindows 2000/2003/2008 Server, MSCE and VMwareAdept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.Proven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesHighly self motivated and directedAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsOn-call availability every other monthOccasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlinesLifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers
