Our client, an established manufacturer, seeks to engage a Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager to oversee the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, the development of company-wide accounting policy and procedures and the effective delivery of core financial accounting processes such as Time Reporting, Facility Usage and General Accounting.
The Manager is also responsible for the delivery of financial information to both internal and external stakeholders, and ensures that adequate controls exist around the corporate accounting function to drive accurate results.
The Manager also maintains the Corporation’s internal control framework and policies and procedures with input from various sources. The Manager is also responsible for staying current with planned changes in external accounting standards and analyzing implications of changes in order to put plans in place to ensure compliance within prescribed deadlines (i.e., PSAB).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting & Analysis:
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and ad hoc financial reports and analysis to Executive Management Committee, the Board of Directors, the shareholder and others as required.
Lead the review and preparation of the organizations quarterly and annual financial statements and related notes for internal and external users.
Lead the review and preparation of the organizations annual Management Discussion & Analysis section and coordinate all financial inputs to the Annual Report.
Provide briefing material (commentary and analysis) for the Audit Committee of the organizations Board of Directors.
Primary interface with auditors; maintain the organizations relationships with external auditors, internal auditors, and other professional advisory bodies regarding accounting and external reporting.
Accounting Policy and Financial Accounting:
Maintain the organizations internal control framework and ensure consistent application of related policies and procedures. Communicate changes to policies and procedures.
Assess new accounting and reporting standards and provide interpretations for implementation; plan for required changed and lead delivery to meet prescribed internal and external deadlines.
Provide leadership and be accountable for all corporate accounting functions and integrity of core financial systems for the organizations; prepare analyses and resolve issues.
Oversee the monthly and annual financial close process.
Plan, develop, manage and co-ordinate reporting, general accounting and supporting systems.
Manage the financial accounting system and related reporting applications and lead required changes or enhancements.
Liaise with corporate planning, and all business divisions to provide direction and/or assistance with respect to complex accounting and reporting issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
CA, CMA or CGA Accounting designation.
Minimum 10-15 years of related experience in financial accounting, reporting and systems.
An experienced financial professional with strong business perspective.
Management level experience leading a financial accounting and reporting function.
Well organized with ability to multi-task, move smoothly from strategic to tactical activities and work with others effectively and under pressure to deliver on tight reporting deadlines.
Ability to coach, mentor and develop staff.
Adaptable to changing circumstances and able to prioritize and assign resources to meet competing demands.
Ability to continuously lead or drive change consistent with the organization and business direction.
Experience leading or managing special projects, organizational assessments and reviews.
Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Willing to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
